Clear Systems were invited by RAF
Charitable Trust Enterprises to provide a validation system for E-Tickets from
their ticketing web site for the Royal International Air Tattoo -
RIAT 2011.
We used our expertise in attendance
recording, data collection and database systems to provide a robust real-time
validation system in a challenging environment.
The requirement was to validate the
tickets, printed by the visitors, and presented to admissions volunteers at
three entrance gates spread across a large venue -
RAF
Fairford. |

It was important to
RAF CTE that the validation status of any ticket was
available in real-time to all other admissions volunteers. So we provided WiFi
enabled Barcode Portable Data Collection Terminals (PDTs).
The PDTs validated the E-Tickets by calling a
UniVerse
database remote procedure on one of three linked database servers, one per
gate.
There was also a ticket search & validate application at each
gate.
Given the nature of the event, we designed the system to be resilient
in the face of possible network or other hardware failure. |
RAF CTE require post event data analysis and statistics.
These are provided by Clear Systems reporting applications using the UniVerse
multi-dimensional database - chosen for its resilience, efficiency, scaleablity
and adaptability.

volunteers contribute to the success of RIAT every
year.
